Interview with Longueur d'ondes

In Montreal for the Coup de coeur Festival

I’m playing tonight (November 10, 2011) at the Coup de coeur francophone Festival. If you happen to be in Montreal tonight, come down to Bistro In Vivo and enjoy the show. Starts at 9 PM with Eric Bélanger, followed by my band and I.

With me on stage are Joël Lavoie (bass), Ivan Burke (drums), and a killer horn section from Montreal: Matthieu Van Vliet and David Carbonneau (trombone and trumpet).

"Le monde à voir" wins a WCMA

Western Canadian Music AwardsI’m very happy to announce that my album has won Francophone Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards.

I just got back from Whitehorse, Yukon, where my band an I played two showcases in the Break Out West Festival. We also participated in a memorable performance during the Awards Show gala, where I was partnered with Peter Hannan (winner in the Classical Recording category), who made a superb arrangement of my song “Je veille”. The eclectic 10-piece orchestra featured trombone, trumpet, violin, lap steel, bass clarinette and iPad (yes, iPad).

An incredible evening could have concluded on that note, but a few minutes later I was in front of the crowd again at the Yukon Performing Arts Centre, accepting the prize. I am honoured to receive this recognition by my Western Canadian peers, and I accept this award with humility.

I would like to thank Galaxie, who presented the trophy as well as the monetary prize that comes with it. Also, thanks to Benoit Morier, my producer, and everyone who contributed to my album in on way or another… I share this recognition with you.

A huge thank you to my band (Joël Lavoie, Ivan Burke, Eric Burke, Audrey Ochoa and Doug Berner) who accompanied me this weekend.
